Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work under clinical supervision and assist with examinations, procedures, phlebotomy, injections, and patient education.

The role includes rooming, data collection, and registration tasks, with a 40-hour workweek, 8:30 am–5:30 pm. A $7,500 commitment incentive is offered, paid in three installments over three years.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required.
• At least one year of full-time Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake including vitals and visit reason.
• Collects patient data including medical and social history.
• Reviews medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists providers during treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Conducts routine tests such as EKG or eye exams under supervision.
• Maintains exam rooms and inventories supplies.
• Prepares patients with post-visit instructions and education.
• Assists with registration, check-in/out, scheduling, and referrals.
• Answers clinic calls and handles in-basket tasks under supervision.
• Supports in emergency situations as directed.
