Job summary

UNC Health in Durham is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work under clinical supervision and assist providers, collect vitals, specimens, and manage patient flow.

Requirements include MA certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA and BLS, with at least one year of experience as a certified MA preferred. The role is onsite with standard hours and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification as MA by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients for visits and collect vital signs and basic data.
• Review patient history, medications, allergies, and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection; administer medications per provider.
• Maintain exam rooms, prepare supplies, and ensure clean instrument handling.
