UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. The role operates under clinical supervision for patient care and under the manager/supervisor for operational direction.

The position involves rooming, data collection, phlebotomy, specimen handling, medication administration, and assisting with procedures. Strong teamwork and EMR documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time Medical Assistant, Certified experience preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake including vital signs and data collection.
• Collects patient/family data including medical and social history.
• Reviews medication list and allergies; coordinates with pharmacy as needed.
• Assists provider during treatments and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests such as EKG and eye exams under provider direction.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and materials.
• Provides post-visit instructions and education materials.
• Assists with registration, check-in/out, scheduling, and referrals.
• Answers clinic calls and supports nurse under provider direction.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed by a nurse or provider.
• Precepts new hires and assists in maintaining clinic safety and quality audits.
