Job summary

UNC Health Campus Care at Carolina seeks a Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and admin support in an outpatient clinic. Under supervision of a provider and clinic manager, you will room patients, collect data, review med lists, assist during procedures, collect specimens, and help with scheduling and registrations.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, medication administration under supervision, maintaining exam rooms, and supporting testings such as EKGs or eye exams as

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Medical Assistant certification by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA or NRCMA/NCMA is required.
• Basic Life Support certification (AHA/ARC) is required.
• Minimum of one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake, collect vital signs and visit data.
• Review medications, allergies and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist providers during treatments and procedures.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain supplies and sterilize instruments.
• Assist with registration, scheduling and referrals, and answer calls.
• Support in emergencies and supervise/train other staff as needed.
