Job summary

UNC Health Medical Group in Smithfield, NC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under the supervision of a provider and a clinic manager, rooming patients, obtaining vitals, taking histories, and assisting with procedures.

This full-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to team-based care across Smithfield and Clayton locations, with a $7,500 commitment incentive and competitive hourly

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA or NCMA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC.
• Minimum one year of full-time MA experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vital signs, height and weight.
• Collect medical and social history from patients.
• Review medications and allergies; determine current therapy.
• Assist the provider during treatments and procedures.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy as directed.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Perform tests such as EKG and eye exams as directed.
• Review records to identify required routine screenings.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies and educational materials.
• Assist with patient registration, check-in/out and scheduling.
• Support in emergencies as directed by a provider or nurse.
• Precept and train new medical assistants and externs.
