Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our outpatient care teams. You will be a key partner to physicians, APPs, and nurses, supporting clinical, nursing, and administrative functions to ensure a quality patient experience.

The CMA will organize patient records, prep patients for exams, perform basic lab tests, and collect medical histories in a fast-paced environment. A CMA certification and CPR are required, with pathways for career advancement through the CMA

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or CCMA required or to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain patient records and support clinical nursing tasks.
• Prep patients for exams and perform basic laboratory tests.
• Obtain medical histories and assist the physician or healthcare team.
• Respond to the needs of patients from newborn to geriatric and support clerical duties as needed.
