Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our interdisciplinary outpatient teams. You will support physicians, nurses, and researchers by preparing patients for exams, collecting histories, and performing basic lab tasks while maintaining meticulous records.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by AAMA or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by NHA required; if certified elsewhere, must obtain AAMA/NHA within 6 months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain patient records.
• Provide a wide range of clinical nursing support tasks (prepping patients for exams, basic lab tests, obtaining medical histories).
• Respond to the needs of patients ages newborn through geriatric.
• Assist physicians and healthcare team members with treatment/protocol completion.
