Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CMA certification.
• BLS certification preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire.
• SAPAA certification preferred; must obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and charting in EMR.
• Assists the physician with procedures and ensures consent is obtained prior to procedures.
• Performs tests as directed within scope of practice.
• Maintains monthly duties such as check-out dates, stocking rooms, and crash cart checks.
• Manages care issues within scope of practice (e.g., sutures, dressings, injections).
• Communicates with practice manager, colleagues, and physicians.
• Ensures proper sterilization of instruments and restocking of rooms.
• MA’s cross-train to support front office when needed.
• Records patient information accurately in EMR and remains functional in EMR environment.
• Handles follow-up calls and patient questions within scope of practice.
• Supports a culture of safety and confidentiality; maintains patient safety.
