Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join its interdisciplinary outpatient team. You will organize patient records, prepare patients for exams, perform basic lab tasks, and assist physicians and nurses with care delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by AAMA or CCMA by NHA; if certified by another agency, must obtain AAMA or NHA within six months.
• Current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain patient records and related clerical tasks.
• Prepare patients for exams and collect basic lab specimens.
• Obtain medical histories and assist care team during procedures.
• Adapt to fast-paced environments and respond to emergencies.
