Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our interdisciplinary outpatient care teams. You will be key in preparing patients, supporting clinicians, and maintaining patient records while adapting to fast-paced environments.

You’ll contribute to high-quality patient experiences and may advance through our CMA Career Ladder Program. Typical responsibilities include assisting with exams, basic lab work, and gathering medical histories; candidates must be ready for emergency

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CMA or CCMA certification required (AAMA/NHA or equivalent with 6 months of employment).
• CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures to prepare patients for treatment or research.
• Assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol.
• Perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy/protocol.
• Respond to the needs of patients from newborn through geriatric.
