Job summary

Duke Otolaryngology Mebane is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative duties across outpatient ENT settings. The role includes patient intake, vital signs, assisting physicians, medication administration, and accurate documentation.

Candidates should have a CA MA accredited program, national certification, and BLS; one year of clinic experience is preferred. A $7,500 commitment bonus is offered for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA is required.
• One year of clinic experience is preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake with patients, including vital signs and visit information.
• Take telephone messages, document encounters, and inform the provider as needed.
• Administer medications as ordered or per protocol following the six rights.
• Assist providers with procedures and participate in performance improvement projects.
• Set up for procedures, perform disinfection/sterilization, and tasks within scope.
• Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated.
• Other duties as assigned by clinic leadership.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking aMedical Assistant, Certifiedresponsible for performing a variety of duties depending on whether it is a small clinic, large medical practice, multi-clinic, or a specialty office. They may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform Intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
• Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform provider
• Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
• Assists providers with procedures.
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
• Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
• Other duties as assigned by clinic leadership.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant programaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• 1 year prior experience in a clinic setting preferred
• BLS required
