Job summary

Cape Cod Healthcare seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for the Endocrine Center in Harwich, MA. You will support clinicians, manage patient flow, take vital signs, document in EMR, and help with procedures to ensure timely care.

Work is at the Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod site with a 30-hour week (Mon-Fri, 7a-5p). 1 2 years’ clinical experience preferred; CPT/EMR familiarity required; salary range posted hourly.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Certification as Medical Assistant (AAMA or NHA).
• Post-secondary medical assisting program completed.
• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
• 2+ years clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing clinical care as delegated by supervising provider.
• Manage provider’s daily schedule and patient flow.
• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and check identifiers.
• Input clinical information into electronic health record accurately.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Assist with procedures and tests; inform patients of visit status.

Purpose of Position : Under the direction of the supervising provider to provide the highest standards of support to the MACC practice. Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a medical care team. Demonstrates a high level of competence with support in accordance with MACC’s policies and procedures.

Description

• Assists in providing clinical care to office patients as delegated by supervising provider


• Manages provider’s daily schedule and patient flow to expedite care and maximize clinical time


• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, and checks two-patient identifiers


• Communicates status of delegated task completion to supervising provider


• Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs as indicated (i.e. height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation)


• Inputs pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy and collects home medication lists


• Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. Keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information pertaining to the patient’s visit


• Prepare and maintain exam rooms for patient arrivals. Clean and/or maintain inventory of supplies (medical included) and equipment throughout the practice. Notifies supervisor to order clinical supplies, clinical equipment and pharmaceuticals as appropriate


• Under the supervision of a provider, administers routine injections when delegated, and documents in real time and with accuracy


• Participates in practice and department meetings, trainings, etc. to promote continuous improvement of quality patient care


• Takes initiative to learn, understand, and stay current with community resources and the greater healthcare system


• Maintains patient rights and abides by all confidentiality obligations pursuant to CCHC and HIPAA


• Provides clerical/office support as necessary (i.e. scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, scanning incoming medical records and paperwork, preparing medical records, answering phone calls and taking messages, faxing, etc.)


• Ability to float to other MACC practices when required


• Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English


• Medical Assistant - Certification from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)


• Completion of a post-secondary medical assisting program required for PCP Office (Preferred for Specialty Office)


• Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers


• Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills


• Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.)


• Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred

Schedule Details : 30 Hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7a-5p, No Weekends and No Holidays
