Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the ambulatory care setting on a 8-hour day shift. The role supports data collection, care coordination, and patient communication under licensed provider supervision.

Expect tasks like vitals, patient prep, specimen handling, and care plan execution across the lifespan. Candidates should graduate from an accredited MA program, hold national certification or registration, and obtain BLS within six months.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
• Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA).
• Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program (AAMA/CCMA/CMAC/NCMA, etc.).
• Registration (RMA) obtained through the AMT also acceptable. Some states have extra requirements.
• BLS certification required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collects subjective and objective health data from patient or caregiver.
• Communicates patient data to health care provider and supports plan of care.
• Transmits provider instructions to patient or caregiver.
• Performs care tasks across the lifespan in prevention, health maintenance, treatment and follow-up.
• Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for examinations.
• Performs point of care testing and assists with scheduling and insurance verification.
• Coordinates provider schedules across locations and manages daily scheduling adjustments.
