Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Springfield Rheumatology - Medical Office

Position Overview

We will accept non-certified medical assistants; certification is required within 12 months of start date. Eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus for new employees!

Job Summary

For Medical Assistant: The Medical Assistant works closely with primary care physicians to deliver excellent patient care, including updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients respectfully.
  2. Prepare and review patient charts, verifying all diagnostic tests, hospital reports, and medical records are accurate and current.
  3. Measure vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  4. Perform clerical duties like checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an approved organization (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, NCCT). If certification is not obtained at hire, it must be achieved within 12 months.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for some locations).
  • Preferred: One year of medical assistant healthcare experience; two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office.
  • Skills in problem-solving, basic computer use, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
For Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

The LPN provides patient care under the physician's direction, including assessing patients, recording responses, and reporting during appointments.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assess patient data and collaborate with providers on care plans.
  2. Educate patients, families, and staff as directed.
  3. Coordinate patient care with other healthcare entities.
  4. Administer medications safely, following policies and state regulations.
  5. Serve as a clinical and professional mentor if in a lead position.

Qualifications
  • Active LPN licensure in the state.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred: One year of clinical patient care experience.
  • Skills include providing appropriate care to all ages, learning computer-based systems, working in a fast-paced team environment, and strong communication skills.
