Qualifications

Position Overview

The CMA will support the Neurology Clinic at the Ambulatory Care Center in Downtown Richmond. If you have a passion for the neuro specialty and want to work in a team-oriented ambulatory setting, we would love to speak with you!

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the care plan under the physician's supervision.

Requirements for Hire

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national professional association (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA).
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

Experience

• At least 1 year of medical assistant work in the last 3 years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Or no experience if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Experience with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office and email.

Preferred Experience

• 2-3 years as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• Experience in an academic healthcare environment.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting training program (preferred).

Additional Details

Functions under supervision, providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving. May require handling medications and supplies. Work involves shift rotations, weekends, and holidays. Schedule adjustments may occur to meet clinic needs.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., prolonged standing and sitting, bending, walking, climbing, and reaching. Must have strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
