Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support in an ambulatory setting under supervision. Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs, specimen collection, and wound care, alongside essential administrative support.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and MA certification from a recognized body.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: None required.
• Licensure: AHA BLS certification; MA certification from a national association (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/ARMA/NHA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical examinations and procedures; prepare lab specimens and perform tests (ECG, phlebotomy, POC testing).
• Support safe patient care, clinic operations and teamwork.
• Handle administrative tasks: scheduling, chart prep, and in-basket messaging.
