A leading healthcare organization seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to deliver patient care, perform tests, and manage patient records. Under the direction of the healthcare provider, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes safety and wellbeing. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.
• Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, and presenting problems.
• May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Administer ordered medications and vaccines via oral, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, or inhalant routes.
• May perform routine tests including EKGs.
• Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion.
• Communicate test results and care plans to patients by phone or mail as directed by the physician.
• Prepare, clean, sterilize instruments, maintain equipment, and keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly; dispose of contaminated items per protocol.
• Document patient care plans, tests, and examination results in medical records as directed.
• Escalate non-routine issues or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
• Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed as required.
• Provide patient safety and protect patient privacy rights.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager, MA Lead, or healthcare providers.
Education and Licensure
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
• Completion of Medication Aide 40-hour course or current Medication Aide certification by a state agency required if applicable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Minimum Experience
• 1 year of experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections.
• Effective communication skills with staff and patients.
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and abbreviations.
• Sound judgment and composure in emergency situations.
• Positive and caring attitude towards patients.
• Good computer skills with medical management software.
• Strong work ethic and professionalism.
