Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations, including vital signs and medical history.
  • Assist provider during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection as needed.
  • Administer medications and vaccines per guidelines.
  • Manage patient flow, room turnover, and keep exam areas stocked and clean.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups and communicate with patients.
  • Support front desk tasks like scheduling and check-in/out.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Medical Assistant to support the daily operations of our clinic in Mesick, MI. This role is critical to delivering high-quality, efficient care in a rural community setting. The Medical Assistant will work closely with the Family Nurse Practitioner and broader care team to ensure a seamless patient experience from intake through follow-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including taking and documenting vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Assist the provider during examinations and procedures
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection as needed
  • Administer medications and vaccines in accordance with state guidelines and clinic protocols
  • Manage patient flow, room turnover, and ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready
  • Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and patient communications
  • Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling and patient check-in/check-out
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and clinic policies; assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in a primary care or outpatient setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
  • Comfortable working in a rural healthcare setting with a high degree of autonomy
