Job description

Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and offer general support in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of the patient’s physician or LIP/RN designee, following policy, procedure, and competency standards to promote patient health and wellness. Responsibilities include:

1. Patient care, vital signs, assisting licensed healthcare professionals, performing laboratory tests, quality control, and clinical intake.
2. Serving patients of all ages with understanding of their developmental stage.
3. Ensuring efficient clinic operations through effective communication with team members, providers, and patients.
4. Data collection across physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions per practice standards.
5. Completing standardized rooming, clinical intake, and documentation.
6. Providing clinical support during examinations and procedures, including specimen collection, testing, wound care, and medication administration, as directed by competencies.
7. Organizing daily work to meet patient needs and support team and operational efficiency.
8. Implementing age-appropriate interventions as directed by the Healthcare Provider.
9. Reinforcing patient/family education using approved materials.
10. Maintaining a safe environment and proper supplies and equipment.
11. Documenting and capturing charges for clinical services.
12. Providing administrative support such as drafting letters, scheduling, medication refills, and clinic preparation, as per competencies.
13. Demonstrating teamwork and recognizing time-sensitive issues.
14. Engaging in professional development for self and others.
15. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: None required.

Licensure: AHA BLS certification and current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, lifting/pushing/pulling 20–50 lbs., and exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
