The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) safely administers medications and treatments under the supervision of a licensed nurse while providing compassionate, resident-centered care. This role is essential in promoting resident safety, comfort, and quality of life through accurate medication administration and close communication with the nursing team.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and Missouri regulations
Verify resident identity prior to medication administration
Accurately document medications, treatments, dosages, and administration times
Observe residents for medication effectiveness and report changes in condition to the licensed nurse
Monitor residents for adverse medication reactions
Maintain accurate medication records and documentation
Follow infection prevention and infection control procedures
Assist residents with care needs as appropriate within the scope of certification
Maintain medication cart organization and security
Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and healthcare team members
Follow facility policies and all state and federal regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by the nursing supervisor
Current Missouri Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification required
Active CNA certification, if required by Missouri regulations
Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, assisted living, or healthcare preferred
Strong attention to detail and medication safety
