Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have completed state approved school of medication administration.
• Must carry current acknowledgment card or state certification.
• Must abide by restrictions placed on job by state agency.
• Must be a certified nursing assistant.

Responsibilities

• Administers PRN medications under licensed supervision.
• Organizes medication duties and documents routine meds and PRN meds.
• Documents all PRNs according to State Standards.
• Observes and reports adverse reactions to medications.
• Takes and records vital signs prior to medications that affect vitals.
• Prepares medications and records administration in the resident record.
• Administers oxygen in emergencies and documents activity and notification.
• Counts narcotics when directed by the charge nurse and documents accordingly.
