Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding, inventory management, and accurate dispensing in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with pharmacists to process prescriptions, prepare sterile and non-sterile products, and ensure USP 797/800 compliance while maintaining inventory integrity and high customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years sterile compounding pharmacy technician experience.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good math skills for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • CPhT certification upon hire.
  • RPT certification upon hire.
  • Preferred: 5 years sterile compounding experience.
  • Preferred: knowledge of inventory control.
  • Preferred: knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
  • Preferred: knowledge of pharmacy automation.
  • Preferred: CSPT certification upon hire.
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs.; frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use.
  • Patient care providers may be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription orders.
  • Monitor medication inventory levels and place or expedite restocking orders.
  • Read medication orders and prescriptions, prepare labels, calculate quantities, and compound sterile and non-sterile products.
  • Ensure compliance with USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Apply USP 71/797/800 knowledge to troubleshoot questions and problems.
  • Use aseptic technique and appropriate garbing.
  • Clean and maintain sterile compounding areas.
  • Fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure medications are labeled, pharmacist-checked, and dispensed timely.
  • Prioritize workload and coordinate activities with team members.
  • Monitor medication expiration dates and prevent expired medications from circulating.
  • Maintain controlled-substance and other required records.
  • Communicate drug information requests to a pharmacist.
  • Maintain competency with pharmacy equipment and duties.
  • Answer phones and attend to customer needs.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
  • Maintain adequate prescription and over-the-counter product inventory.
