Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical, clerical, and distributive pharmacy functions under the direction of a licensed pharmacist
  • Perform calculations for prescription order processing and compounding
  • Coordinate with patient care units to support discharge medication delivery
  • Assist pharmacists with prescription input, medication filling and labeling, phone calls, and prescription payments
  • Submit refill and prior authorization requests
  • Update patients on prescription status and resolve stock-related issues
  • Alert pharmacists when prescriptions are picked up for medication counseling
  • Use pharmacy technology, EHRs, and automated dispensing machines
  • Handle prescriptions involving hazardous drugs
  • Operate multi-line phones, monitor faxes and voicemails, respond to emails, manage will-call reports
  • Process wholesale orders, including controlled substances
  • Audit and track inventory, remove expired items
  • Complete closing procedures and end-of-day reports
  • Collaborate on quality improvement
  • Assist with new-hire technician orientation and training
  • Support OTC section
  • Maintain downtime knowledge and review policies
  • Comply with state and federal regulations
  • Complete mandatory training
  • Report safety incidents and participate in safety training

Job description

  • Audit and track inventory, resolve discrepancies, and remove expired items
  • Complete closing procedures, end-of-day reports, point-of-sale cash counts, shred-bin emptying, and drawer restocking
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and personnel on quality improvement
  • Assist with new-hire technician orientation and training
  • Support and maintain the over-the-counter section
  • Maintain knowledge of downtime procedures and review department policies
  • Comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies
  • Complete mandatory modules and required job-specific training
  • Report safety incidents, attend safety training, work safely, and monitor the work environment
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED - Required
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • License with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy - Required
  • Understanding of computers and competence in using computers and basic software programs
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately for prescription order processing and compounding
  • Experience with pharmacy software systems, electronic health records, automated dispensing machines, and other pharmacy technology
  • Ability to handle prescriptions involving hazardous drugs
  • 3 months to 1 year of experience - Preferred
