Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient pharmacy services in a Boston-area hospital. You will assist with medication preparation, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding, and applicable sterile compounding, ensuring accuracy and safety.

You'll maintain clean work areas, handle medication distribution, and cooperate with interdisciplinary teams while following hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Pharmacy Intern License in Massachusetts.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Able to stand/walk for prolonged periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Experience with sterile and non-sterile compounding and medication labeling.

Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacists in inpatient pharmacy services.
  • Prepare medications via selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding, and applicable sterile compounding.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas.
  • Deliver medications to storage and patient care areas.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage during distribution.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain temperature logs, controlled substance records, and training documentation.
  • Participate in inspections of medication storage areas and report discrepancies.
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Assist onboarding and training of staff and students.
  • Respond to and triage calls from hospital staff and vendors.
  • Provide timely and professional service to internal and external customers.
  • Use pharmacy information systems, automation, and related technologies.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by supervising pharmacist.

Job description

  • Support pharmacists in the safe and efficient delivery of inpatient pharmacy services
  • Prepare medications through selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding, and applicable sterile compounding
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas
  • Deliver medications to appropriate storage and patient care areas
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of medications during distribution
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain temperature logs, controlled substance records, and training documentation
  • Participate in inspections of medication storage areas and report discrepancies
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff and interdisciplinary teams
  • Participate in team meetings and support onboarding and training of staff and students as needed
  • Respond to and triage phone calls from hospital staff and vendors
  • Provide timely and professional service to internal and external customers
  • Use pharmacy information systems, automation, and related technologies
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the supervising pharmacist
  • Comply with hospital and departmental policies
Requirements
  • Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy: Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Frequent use of hands for fine motor tasks, including medication preparation, labeling, and compounding
  • Ability to lift and transport medication bins, supplies, and equipment, typically up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull medication carts and automated dispensing restock bins
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read medication labels, computer screens, and written documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities
  • Ability to work in sterile environments and comply with gowning and aseptic technique requirements, including no cosmetics or artificial nails and/or nail polish
