The position requires at least 1 year in hospital coding, CCS or CIC credential, and familiarity with medical terminology. Training on ICD updates is provided, with a focus on accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School / GED required.
• 1 year in Hospital coding experience.
• Coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology completed.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR CIC credential.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign accurate ICD codes.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into designated system.
• Support cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports.
• Stay updated on ICD guideline changes and apply updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
