Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Hospital Coder to perform thorough medical record review, assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures, and abstract data for statistical reporting. You will ensure accurate coding to support revenue cycle and compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year in hospital coding, a CCS or CIC certification, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1 year hospital coding experience.
• CCS or CIC certification.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• Understanding of computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters data.
• Manages unbilled coding reports and cash flow.
• Keeps updated on ICD guideline changes and implements updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
