Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Histology Technician in Pleasant Prairie, WI for part-time 24 hours per week (Wed, Thu, Fri, 3pm–11:30pm). Responsibilities include obtaining and preparing tissue specimens, grossing, fixation, cutting, mounting, and staining for dermatopathologist review.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• NAACLS histology training required.
• HT ASCP certification or eligibility to sit for the exam within one year.
• CLIA requirements for specified duties are preferred.
• 2+ years histology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex histology procedures using a variety of techniques.
• Accession tissue specimens.
• Receive and prepare tissue specimens.
• May perform grossing and inking (dependent on agency requirements).
• Prepare media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
• Process tissue, embedding, microtomy/cutting, staining, use cryostat, freezing.
• Label and prepare slides.
• Performs quality control on completed slides.
• Examine slides under the microscope to detect deviations from the norm and report abnormalities.
• Preserve and store samples.
• Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides.
