Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a Certified Float Medical Assistant 2 to join the UHealth team in Miami. This full-time position supports providers with multi-skilled clinical tasks, patient care, and routine labs in a busy ambulatory setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, completion of an approved Medical Assistant program, and current MA certifications (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA) or the ability to obtain within 12 months, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by USDE.
• Active MA certifications: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA; if not certified, pursue within 12 months.
• American Heart Association BLS for healthcare providers.
• HIV/AIDS Certification required for healthcare professionals.
• Must obtain MA certification within 12 months of hire if not yet certified.

Responsibilities

• Abides by ethical standards and protects patient privacy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology.
• Prepares exam rooms with supplies and assists providers.
• Maintains sterile technique and asepsis.
• Prepares patients for care with explanations of procedures.
• Performs routine laboratory tests and records results.
• Take vital signs, EKG, and collect/handle specimens.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Administers medications as directed by physician.
• Assist in patient mobility and comfort as needed.
• Escort and transport patients within the facility.
• Sterilizes and cleans instruments and equipment.
• Schedule tests and complete related forms.
• Provide care instructions to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Order, stock, and manage supplies; perform clerical duties.
• Adhere to policies; protect University assets.
