Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant program (USDE recognized).
• Active MA certification is preferred; candidates may need certification within 12 months.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or similar certification required (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA).
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers required.

Responsibilities

• Abides by ethical standards and protects patient privacy.
• Assists providers with exams by preparing treatment rooms and supplies.
• Maintains sterile technique and understands asepsis.
• Prepares patients and explains procedures prior to care.
• Performs routine laboratory tests and vital signs (including EKG, phlebotomy).
• Documents care in the patient record and tracks changes.
• Transports patients as needed and assists in patient movements.
• Sterilizes instruments and manages instrument inventories.
• Schedules tests and completes laboratory paperwork.
• Maintains accurate patient records and assists with clerical duties.
