Qualifications

Position Summary

Provides direct care to athletes to achieve optimal sports outcomes in a cost-effective manner, aligned with professional standards, care, performance, and organizational goals. Performs documentation related to patient care. Participates in staff and student education programs. Identifies opportunities to improve quality and efficiency. Renders services such as prevention, immediate care, evaluation, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and reconditioning.

Job Duties
  1. Adhere to clinical certification criteria established by the National Athletic Trainers Association. Engage in prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student athlete injuries.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition.
  3. Perform proper evaluation and assessment techniques for athletic injuries. Recognize signs and symptoms of injuries, illnesses, metabolic issues, and psychological conditions, considering various stressors on the body.
  4. Use therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation equipment, first aid supplies, athletic training supplies, and utility vehicles as needed.
  5. Conduct taping, wrapping, bracing, and pre-event preparations.
  6. Provide medical response coverage for home and select away events as schedule permits.
  7. Implement exercise programs based on evaluations and medical provider goals.
  8. Understand and follow indications and contraindications for therapeutic modalities like ice, heat, electrical stimulation, and joint mobilization.
  9. Plan, document, communicate, and refer athletes to medical providers for diagnostics and follow-up per department guidelines.
  10. Assist with pre-participation medical and orthopedic screenings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology from a CAATE-accredited program, or
  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology from a CAATE-accredited program, or
  • Completion of an approved Athletic Training Internship and appropriate National Certification.

Less than 1 year of experience required.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize workloads, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to educate patients on exercise instructions.
  • Ability to coordinate care with other healthcare providers.
  • Must be able to travel within 50 miles of the home location.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (State of Pennsylvania) upon hire.
  • Valid Driver's License (Pennsylvania) upon hire.
  • Athletic Trainer BOC certification or PA Athletic Trainer License upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Two years of experience.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and internal software systems.
Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs., push/pull up to 140 lbs., carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
