Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks an Environmental Project Manager to lead CEQA/NEPA projects and grow our environmental planning practice across California. You will manage client engagements, guide project teams, and help shape strategic growth.

Responsibilities include overseeing CEQA/NEPA document preparation, coordinating with agencies, and developing staff while maintaining high standards in proposals and deliverables. AICP and California licensing preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership with oversight of planning and environmental professionals.
• CEQA/NEPA project management experience in California for land development, municipal/local government, transportation, water, energy, housing, and higher education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field; Master’s preferred; AICP desirable.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Proven ability to supervise staff and mentor team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead CEQA/NEPA projects and expand California environmental planning services.
• Engage clients, lead staff development, and drive business development.
• Oversee environmental document preparation and related reviews.
• Coordinate multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional environmental projects.
• Coach and supervise environmental staff to maintain high-quality work.
