Position Summary

The Central Service Technician II is certified as either a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) and is responsible for ensuring that all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality and timely manner through the hospital. Works independently with little supervision, qualified to train others, and serves as a resource to Central Processing customers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors
  • Understands and applies knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures
  • Attends staff meetings and completes annual competency requirements
  • Maintains safety standards and handles decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies, instruments, and equipment
  • Operates and troubleshoots sterilization and cleaning equipment
  • Assembles, wraps, labels, and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality
  • Properly handles and stores sterile supplies and equipment
  • Chooses appropriate sterilization methods and documents sterilization loads and biological tests
  • Tracks medical and surgical supplies and equipment to the customer in a timely manner
  • Uses and maintains equipment specific to CP, including sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and test devices
  • Manages supply ordering, receiving, stocking, and usage monitoring
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Serves as a resource to customers on Central Processing functions
  • Performs other related duties and tracks training and compliance
  • Distributes and restocks medical supplies, transports patients, and maintains work area
  • Completes 10 Continuing Education Credits annually

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification as CRCST or CSPDT required, or grandfathered if applicable
  • Previous experience preferred

Note: Responsibilities may change as per hospital needs. Salary Range: $47,548 - $71,323.20 based on full-time employment.
