Central Sterile Tech - Outpatient Surgery

Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to support the sterilization and assembly of surgical instruments and supplies. You will work closely with the Perioperative Nursing staff to ensure timely provision of sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts.

The role requires completion of a Central Sterile Tech program or CST certification, HS diploma or GED, and relevant experience or CST certification.

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED required; CST/Central Sterile Tech certification preferred.
• Graduate of Central Sterile Tech program required or CST certificate is preferred.
• In lieu of CST certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in a timely manner.
• Assists in maintaining workflow and provides superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
