Job summary

The Central Sterile Tech position at University of California, Irvine Health requires handling decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment used across the hospital and affiliated clinics. You will also manage charging and logging for OR services and patient charges.

Daily biological testing is performed, and you’ll contribute to department-wide improvement projects. Shift work, including evenings and weekends, is required in this role.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience.
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Current CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by CEUs and renewing certification.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment for the department throughout the hospital and clinics.
• Perform charging, billing and logging of service as well as patient charges for the OR.
• Execute daily biological testing.
• Participate in special projects and performance improvement initiatives.
