Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Central Sterile Tech responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies used throughout the hospital and clinics. The role includes charging, billing and logging of services and patient charges for the OR, plus daily biological testing.

Preferred candidates will have accredited Sterile Processing training or 18 months related experience, with CRCST or CSPDT certification maintained via CEUs.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience.
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Current full CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by taking CEUs and renewing certification.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment for the hospital and clinics.
• Charging, billing and logging of service as well as patient charges for the OR.
• Perform daily biological testing.
• Participate in special projects and performance improvement initiatives.
