Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to maintain sterilization standards, assemble and store surgical instruments, and support Perioperative Nursing in providing timely sterile sets.

Responsibilities include collaborating with staff, ensuring workflow efficiency, and delivering superior customer service in a fast-paced surgical environment. Education and CST-related certifications are preferred and applicable experience is considered.

Qualifications

• Education requirements for CST and general education are specified.
• CST certification or equivalent experience is considered for the role.
• Three years of Central Sterile experience may substitute CST certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts to support timely workflow.
• Provides superior customer service and sustains continuous workflow.

H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required

In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
