Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Central Sterile Tech to support sterile instrument sets and case carts at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Georgia. You will sterilize, assemble, and store surgical supplies, collaborating with Perioperative Nursing to ensure timely readiness of equipment for procedures.

Required education includes a GED or higher, CST or Central Sterile experience, and optional CCST/CST certificates. No experience needed if CST certified.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or higher; CST certification preferred or 3 years in Central Sterile as alternative.
• Work Experience: 3 years in Central Sterile required, or no experience if CST certified.
• Licenses and Certifications: CCST (preferred) or CST (preferred).

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing instruments.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts.

Responsibilities:

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
