Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to maintain standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments. You will assemble and store instrument sets and case carts to support timely patient care.

Education requires a HS Diploma or GED, with CST certification preferred. Experience requirements include 3 years in Central Sterile or equivalently CST-certified applicants.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• CST certification preferred; CST certification may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing to provide instrument sets and case carts in a timely manner.
• Supports continuous workflow with superior customer service.

Responsibilities

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and


• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or


• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or


• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required


• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or


• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
