Job summary

NYU Langone Medical Center is seeking a Central Sterile Technician - KP SPD Day Shift (37.5 Hours) to support our surgical services. The role involves decontaminating, assembling, and distributing sterile instrumentation to the operating rooms in a fast-paced health system.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, CBSPD certification (CRCST/CER/CFER) and hands-on training; provisional certification accepted.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CBSPD CRCST, CER or CFER certification (provisional acceptable).
• 400 hours of hands-on training before expiration of provisional certification.
• Knowledge of healthcare products, patient care equipment and surgical instruments.
• Formal central service technician education is preferred.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods.
• Performs and documents quality assurance processes as per protocol.
• Transferring, storing and transporting sterile packages following infection control guidelines.
• Uses instrument tracking system to enter, modify and search information.
• Assembles, inspects and packages major surgical instruments.
• Delivers instruments to surgical suites in a timely manner.
