Job summary

NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, NY, seeks a Central Sterile Technician for the KP SPD on the Evening Shift (37.5 hours). The role ensures decontamination, disinfection, testing and assembly of instrument sets and supplies to surgical suites, while maintaining accurate tracking and storage of sterile packages.

Responsibilities include quality assurance, infection control adherence, and efficient handling of instrument carts and disposables, with opportunities to contribute to process

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification from CBSPD or HSPA: CRCST, CER, or CFER; provisional acceptable.
• Minimum 400 hours of hands-on training before expiration of provisional certification.
• Knowledge of health care products, patient care equipment and surgical instruments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs and documents quality assurance processes and random sampling of products per protocol.
• Adheres to infection control guidelines during transferring, storing and transporting sterile packages.
• Efficiently enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization processes, documentation and delivery of sterile packages.
• Demonstrates knowledge of major surgical instruments preparation, assembly, inspection and packaging.
