Job description

Position Summary: Central Sterile Technician-KP SPD-Evening Shift (37.5 Hours). The successful candidate will be responsible for all instrument exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies, meeting established quotas qualitatively and quantitatively, delivering them to surgical suites timely. They will decontaminate, disinfect, test, adjust and assemble mobile patient equipment, assist in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation, inventory, order, and stock medical disposable goods in storage areas, manage materials handling within the sterile processing area, answer telephones, handle face‑to‑face interactions with internal and external customers, and actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, and cleaning methods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform and document quality assurance processes, including random sampling of products according to protocol.
• Incorporate infection control guidelines when transferring, storing, and transporting sterile packages.
• Enter, modify, and search information in the instrument tracking system effectively.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes, documentation, and delivery of sterile packages.
• Demonstrate knowledge of major surgical instrument preparation and assembly, inspection, and packaging.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Certified or Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA): (1) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), (2) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or (3) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER). Provisional certification is acceptable. 400 hours of hands‑on training required before provisional certification expires.

Required Licenses

Sterile Processing & Distribution CBSPD, Central Sterile Technician (HSPA).

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of specific healthcare products, patient care equipment, surgical instruments, medical terminology, and basic use. Completion of formal central service technician or surgical technologist education program. Basic computer skills.

Qualified candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Salary range for this role is $63,948.07 – $63,948.07 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other compensation.
