Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to support sterile processing in the perioperative area. You will assemble, decontaminate, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments, ensuring accurate storage of medical supplies and equipment.

Collaborating with Perioperative Nursing staff, you will help provide instrument sets and case carts promptly, while maintaining workflow and delivering excellent customer service across departments.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech program or CST experience accepted in lieu of CST.
• Certification (CCST/CST) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts.
• Assists in maintaining consistent workflow and provides strong customer service.

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
