Job summary

UMMC is seeking a Central Plant Operator for its Facilities Services team at the Main Campus Jackson location to ensure efficient operation of the central plant and related equipment, including boilers, chillers and pumps. The role demands a strong understanding of central plant systems and safety procedures.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED with two years of related experience and a valid driver's license. Vocational stationary engineering training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, utility systems, or industrial mechanical equipment.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Vocational or technical training in stationary engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and related systems.
• Monitor and adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on central plant equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and system failures.
• Perform necessary repairs or coordinate with other facilities technicians on complex repairs.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and logs of central plant operations.
• Implement energy-saving measures to reduce operational costs.
