Job summary

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Stationary Engineer to support central utility systems essential to patient care, research, and facility operations. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, BAS monitoring, and preventive maintenance across boilers, chillers, and pumps on the Bastrop campus.

The successful candidate will have four years of experience with boiler and water treatment systems, licenses preferred, and a schedule of Monday–Friday, days on site.

Qualifications

  • Requires four years of experience with boiler systems, chillers, cooling towers, and/or water treatment in a large central plant.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and preventive maintenance.
  • Licenses or certifications in boiler operation or stationary engineering preferred (e.g., Class D Water Operator, EPA Universal).

Responsibilities

  • Operate central utility systems including chilled water, steam, compressed air, vacuum, and heating hot water systems.
  • Monitor BAS and analyze performance for energy efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and related equipment.
  • Respond to alarms/outages; document activities and coordinate with vendors.
  • Coordinate work orders and liaise with internal teams for inspections and compliance.
  • Assist in training and process improvement initiatives.
