Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking an Installer II to read and interpret installation specs for central office projects and to determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, and cabling needs. You will create precise installation notes, BOMs, and records reflecting site changes, while reviewing specifications for accuracy.

The role requires a hands-on, safety-conscious approach, 1 year of technical experience or more, and willingness to travel up to 75%.

• Candidate will be working primarily in a central office, which is a structure used by telecommunications companies to house equipment needed to direct and process telephone calls and data traffic (Telephone Central Offices "CO's" are also known as telephone switching centers, wire centers, or telephone exchanges)
• Must have reliable transportation for site-to-site visits
• This is a night shift position from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday-Thursday

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret installation specifications for various construction projects.
• Determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling of central office equipment.
• Identify and request parts for low/high-level racking, transmission racking, power racking, aisle lighting, and grounding.
• Create installation specifications and BOMs reflecting additions/modifications.
• Create or correct location records, drawings, BOMs, installation notes and memos.
• Review installation specifications and perform other duties as assigned.
