Job summary

MasTec Communications Group invites an Installer II to support central office installations. You will read specs, plan layouts, run cabling, and ensure safe, high-quality work on customer sites. The role requires hands-on problem solving and clear communication in a team environment.

Travel up to 75% is expected; lifting up to 10 lbs; wages are $20–$24 per hour with benefits including 401(k), ESPP, and life insurance. This is a field-based, long-term opportunity with MasTec.

  • Create installation specifications and BOMs reflecting changes.
  • Review installation specs and reflect updates in records.

Responsibilities

As an Installer II, you are responsible for reading and interpreting the proper installation specifications for various construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

  • Determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling of central office equipment
  • Identify and request parts necessary to establish low- and high-level racking, transmission racking, power racking, aisle lighting, and provision for grounding
  • Create comprehensive and accurate installation specifications and equipment requirements to fulfill customer orders
  • Create or correct location records, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), installation notes, and memos to reflect additions and modifications to customers' location (central office) because of installation or engineering activities
  • Review installation specifications

  • You have excellent communication skills; speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; demonstrate group presentation skills
  • You have the ability to learn time management while working on customer sites
  • You possess dependability; follow instructions, respond to management's directions; keep commitments
  • Experience in handling power tools
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs
  • Must be willing and available to travel away from home for several weeks at a time (up to 75%)
  • Candidate will be working primarily in a central office, which is a structure used by telecommunications companies to house equipment needed to direct and process telephone calls and data traffic (Telephone Central Offices (CO's) are also known as telephone switching centers, wire centers, or telephone exchanges)
