Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking an Installer III to read and interpret installation specs for central office projects. You will design layouts, requisition parts, create BOMs, and assemble transmission equipment while maintaining safety standards and customer satisfaction.

You will mentor junior installers, manage field tasks, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting, with a hands-on, team-driven approach.

  • High School diploma or GED and Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school, or equivalent as determined by the Installation Manager.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer.
  • You respond promptly to customer needs and request customer feedback to improve the partnership.
  • You have the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and work within company-provided databases to update job statuses.
  • You have the ability to lift tools and equipment as needed (minimum 10 lbs).
  • You are proficient in customer specifications and standards.
  • You possess excellent communication skills, speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; demonstrate group presentation skills.
  • You have excellent time management; you organize and plan work activities, set goals and objectives, and develop realistic action plans.
  • You are dependable; follow instructions, respond to management's directions, and keep commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret installation specifications for various construction projects.
  • Determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling of central office equipment.
  • Design, identify, and requisition parts to establish racking and grounding.
  • Create installation specifications and equipment requirements to fulfill customer orders.
  • Create or correct location records, BOMs, installation notes, and memos reflecting changes.
  • Familiarity with specs and drawings to assemble and integrate telco transmission equipment.
  • Use hand tools for installation of transmission equipment.
  • Transport tools/materials to the job site and supervise lower-level installers.
  • Provide guidance on progress, shortages, complaints, and unsafe tools.
  • Ensure compliance with customer installation and quality standards including IP72202.
  • Perform self-quality checks prior to sign-off.
  • Assemble, modify, install overhead ironwork, relay racks, transmission equipment, and cable ladder.
  • Run power, signal, and ground cables to interconnect equipment.
  • Cut and terminate cables with power lugs, connectors, and stencils; issue equipment terminations.
  • Maintain professional rapport with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Maintain departmental paperwork as requested.
  • Follow safety and security requirements; keep work area safe.
  • Dress appropriately for the job environment.
  • Be proficient in all phases of installation and testing of equipment for progression in the business.
  • Review installation specifications.
