Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach is seeking a Central Communications Operator to serve as the primary hub for emergency and nonemergency communications across Sentara hospitals and after-hours services.
The role requires 2 years of experience in a fast-paced communications environment and a high school diploma. Candidates must be able to work a 6:00am–4:30pm shift with weekend availability in a 24/7 operation.

Central Communications Operators play a critical role in ensuring seamless,timelycommunication across Sentara hospitals, freestanding emergency departments, andafterhours callservices. Operating within a centralized, 24/7 environment, this role serves as the primary hub for emergency and nonemergency communications-supporting rapid response coordination, internal escalation, and exceptional customer service. Success in this role requires the ability to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, and communicate with urgency and precision during highimpact situations.
Position requires 24/7/365 operation and holiday rotation.
4 days shift must be able to work weekends.
Hours: 6:00am- 4:30pm
