Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years data entry and billing/claims experience in a healthcare setting or FCCH billing externship.
• Experience in a multispecialty clinic setting.

Responsibilities

• Review site batched encounters for charge and payment accuracy and perform necessary billing adjustments.
• Monitor unbilled encounters and meet daily/weekly deadlines.
• Provide education on encounter batches to minimize errors and improve reimbursements.
• Meet end-of-month closing activities and deadlines.
• Coordinate electronic patient statements monthly.
• Post payments and reconcile postings to lockbox/EOB totals.
• Record NSF checks and notify patients of adjusted balances.
• Review credit balance reports and prepare refunds for overpayments.
• Assist billing Helpdesk with inquiries via electronic, phone, and written correspondence.
• Follow up on assigned payer-type accounts to collect patient and insurance balances.
• Resolve EOBs and resubmit claims for proper reimbursement.
• Edit and submit insurance claims for fee-for-service and PPS reimbursement.
• Communicate payment terms and establish payment plans as needed.
• Evaluate uncollectible accounts and advise on write-offs or bad debt placement.
