Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a General Manager to run a moving and storage center, focusing on profitability, staff leadership, inventory control and customer service. You will hire, train and supervise staff, analyze P&L, manage fleet maintenance, and ensure secure, compliant operations at our Kankakee location.

This role requires 1–3 years of management in retail or service, strong computer skills, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer literacy and proficient with standard business software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience managing high-volume retail with profit and loss accountability.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage the fleet to deliver clean, well-maintained equipment.
• Perform profit/loss analyses.
• Hire and mentor new team members.
• Track and itemize inventory.
• Manage the personnel budget.
• Ensure customers receive high-quality care.
• Track fuel receipts and petty cash.
• Keep premises clean and secure.
